What Are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are a simple, yet revolutionary treatment for missing teeth.

We provide dental implants for Gold Coast patients who want to take back their smile. There are many reasons why we lose our teeth and the consequences of doing so can often be frustrating and embarrassing if they aren’t addressed. Not only that, but missing teeth can also cause a number of other issues further down the line including the signs of premature ageing. But with dental implants we can replace your missing teeth in every way imaginable and look and feel as natural as your other teeth.

Our team of exceptionally skilled and experienced oral health professionals all strive to offer you the highest standards of dentistry with a firm focus on being patient-centric in everything that we do. Naturally this extends to all arms of treatment that we perform here including dental implants and as our name suggests we specialise in both periodontics and dental implant treatments. We know that your dental needs are as unique as you are and we take the time to fully understand the nature of your problems before devising a tailored treatment plan. Additionally, we are always supportive of our patients and we encourage you to ask questions and to raise any concerns you may have about the dental implant procedure or any other treatment.

We want to build meaningful relationships with our patients and we deeply appreciate their loyalty. Which is why we are so invested in helping you to achieve your dental goals. But what are dental Implants?

What You Need To Know About Dental Implants

One of the very first considerations for prospective dental implant patients is determining whether or not you are a suitable candidate for the procedure. So before we can commence with any treatment we have to ensure that everything is in place for a successful procedure. Dental implants require a certain amount of jawbone in order to gain a strong enough hold and provide the anchor for your new prosthetic tooth. Additionally, should you be suffering from any gum disease or other concerns they may need to be treated before we can go ahead with your treatment. Whether you are missing one tooth or many dental implants are both incredibly popular and supremely effective in treating the symptoms of tooth loss and restoring your beautiful smile. Since their invention in the 1960’s, dental implants have changed the lives of millions of people worldwide and given them back their ability to smile widely and freely without ever shying away.

The Dental Implant Procedure

Dental implant treatments are completed in 4 stages, the first of which involves using super accurate surgical techniques to place your implant within your jawbone. Sometimes a bone graft is required if you don’t already have sufficient bone mass to complete the dental implant surgery. Then we will close up your gum tissues and give them some time to heal, this usually takes between 2-6 months.

Once you have healed up, the second stage can commence and is this is where we place your abutment onto your implant to form the base of your new tooth. The third stage is where we actually create your custom-made prosthetic and in the final stage replace your temporary abutment with a permanent crown created in our dental laboratory.
